This year, Hotel Capo D’Orso has become part of The Leading Hotels of the World.
We’ve renovated the golf course — a small gem overlooking the Maddalena Archipelago.
A project by Combo Golf Srls, a company specializing in the creation of synthetic grass golf facilities for resorts, hotels, private villas,
and other locations.

Born in Terni on October 15, 1959, Roberto Pompei entered the world of sports in 1964, exploring various disciplines including soccer (playing for the Cagliari junior team) and tennis, where he was both a player and instructor until 1988. That year marked a turning point, as he left tennis instruction to fully dedicate himself to golf.
Career Highlights:
•1989: Attended the National Golf School in Sutri and became a Golf Professional.
•1990 – 1992: Golf Professional at the Italian Golf Federation’s Technical Center “Le Querce”.
•1992 – 1993: Consultant to Scottish architect John Souter in the design of the “Arco di Costantino Golf Club” in Rome, where he also worked for several years as Head Pro.
•1994 – 1997: Golf Professional at “Pevero Golf Club” in Costa Smeralda.
•1998: Head Pro and Technical Director at “Country Club Castelgandolfo”.
That same year, he created and developed a concept called “Golf Court”, for which he owns the copyright — a project designed to convert small spaces (such as tennis courts) into functional golf practice areas, including putting greens, bunkers, swing analysis stations, and more. The first facility was installed at the Forte Village Resort in Sardinia.
•2000 – 2004: Head Pro at “Puntaldia Golf Club” in Sardinia.
•2004: Organized the first “Coast to Coast” event, a project to bring golf to everyone, by setting up a complete golf practice area near the Vatican, in Piazza Risorgimento, Rome.
•2004 – 2006: Technical Director, Head Pro, and Event Coordinator at the “Riviera Golf Resort”.
•2007: Earned his Master in Golf Management, organized by the Italian Golf Federation (FIG).
•2007 – 2016: Designed and built the first 9-hole synthetic grass golf course in Italy at the Golf Club Vallugola, where he also served as Director and Head Pro.
•From 2017: Head Pro at Puntaldia Golf Resort.
•From 2025: Head Pro at Capo d’Orso for Delphina – Winners Italy’s Leading Hotel Group, recipient of multiple international awards.
Event Creator and Technical Director of various Golf Clinics and Competitions for international brands such as:
Les Copains, Ford Italia, Yamaha Super Bike, Pershing Yachts, Mister Nut, SNO Yachts.
Founder and Director of the “Golf Links Invitational ©️”, the first edition held in Emilia-Romagna in 2005. Since 2022, it takes place along the La Cinta beach in San Teodoro, Sardinia, under the Patronage of the Municipality of San Teodoro and, since the 2023 edition, also under the Patronage of the Regional Tourism Department of Sardinia.
Founder of “Combo Golf ©️”, a company that designs and installs synthetic grass golf courses of all sizes for resorts, hotels, private villas, and unique locations.
